Went to the park with Monica, her Aunt, Uncle, and the kids. We bought bags full of prizes to hand the kids after they hunted for easter eggs. There were many memorable moments, especially the time Kaili (who is about 10 years old) whined like a baby when JJ and Danica ran to pick up the same easter egg she was attempting to get – mind you, she had more eggs than all of them put together lol. If you wanna see the other photos you can head over to Monica’s blog at monicacatral.wordpress.com

Went to Central Park yesterday. It was about the 5th time since the warm spring season has arrived. We’ve been loving every minute of it. I believe Monica, however, enjoyed it just a tad too much when I bought kites for all of us. She was louder than the kids when she got her kite to fly at its peak altitude. I think she scared a few people away lol. I took some pics but none of them with us flying kites; I’ve been way too lazy lately…

Hello all,

Well now, let me just say: I’ve actually had a lot of free time to take photographs in the last week. Albeit, most of the photos have been of my niece, Arianna, mainly because I have been spending more time with her lately. However, as always, this blog showcases more pictures of Danica than anyone else and I will never falter on posting photos of her because she makes for great photographs. Nevertheless, I came up with a cool topic for today’s post; I’d like to label it “Jason’s Interesting Photography Facts.” This is something I started on my Facebook page, go to http://facebook.com/jasonnunez23 and add me as a friend if you want to see my personal photos. So, enough fussing, let’s get to it. Here are some of my most interesting photography facts:

  1. Danica, Monica, and I must have been in Central Park at least 300 times since the beginning of last year.
  2. In the 300 times we’ve been there we have taken about 28,000 pictures (many deleted).
  3. I have approximately 15,000 photographs on my hard-drive and 7,000 on Monica’s.
  4. I have been taking photographs with dSLR’s, specifically the Nikon D60 since May 2008.
  5. I have to manually focus my lens every time I take a shot – most of my photos come out blurry and I have to shoot a million times before I get one that’s a keeper.
  6. I only have one lens, and it is a prime lens (a lens with a fixed focal length, for example 50mm,  for those of you who don’t speak our geeky language).
  7. I did not learn about aperture, shutter, ISO, and any other technical elements of photography until February 2009.
  8. When it came to taking pictures I used to think I knew what I was doing, now I realize I have not idea what I am doing when I shoot.
  9. My favorite camera is any full frame Nikon dSLR which I may be able to afford, which is none at the moment :-( .
  10. My favorite subjects to shoot are children because they never give orders nor do they complain when you show them the shots you have taken of them.
  11. I barely take any photographs of myself, mainly because my tripod is broken and I rather someone else take a picture of me anyhow.

So, that does it for now, I will save some more of my interesting facts for another episode ;-) . Now, let’s get to the good stuff: the pictures!

Hello everyone,

Its that time of the day again – the part of my day where I should be sleeping instead of trying to edit the pictures I am going to post on my blog. Anyway, today I tried to finish the services page on my website and I added a few new pictures to my portfolio as well. Also, I will be adding many more pictures to the site as I continue to expand my portfolio.

On another note, for those of you wondering why I titled this post “Her first ride,” I would like to say that Monica and I are filled with joy about what I am about to say:

Danica got on her bicycle and rode it by herself for the first time ever! I think the reaction, to our reaction, on other peoples’ faces sums up just how happy we were: they looked at us as if we were delirious. Let me try to illustrate what led to our “delirious” reaction -

1)Monica begins by showing Danica how to use her heels to propel herself forward
2)Monica gets a bit tired of doing most of the work for Danica, but Danica is getting the hang of it
3)Monica then asks me to take over
4)I begin by lightly pushing Danica forward
5)Danica asks me to let go of the bicycle
6)She firmly plants her tiny little legs on the pedals and thrusts her butt up into the air every time her feet alternate their position on the pedals
7)She then realizes there is a system at work here: Pedal goes upward, Foot pushes it downward, and so on and so forth
8)At this point she is almost flying forward
9)Monica and I cannot believe our eyes!
10)Danica realizes how much fun it is when she rides the bicycle on her own
11)Finally, Monica and I JUMP INTO THE AIR LIKE WILD GORILLAS AND SCREAM AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS ” YEAH!!! YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT DANICA!! YOU ARE SOOOO COOOL, YOU ARE A SUPERWOMAN!! YEAHHHH!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
12)And then I notice everyone is looking at us as if we are crazy; I think I am the only one who realizes that because Monica is always clueless to those type of things, but we cannot not help our excitement and Danica asks to continue riding her bicycle over and over all on her own.

We are so proud of her. I could have never imagined her learning to ride her bicycle so quickly on her own. And yea, it does have training wheels on it but, at the rate that she picks up new material, we will get her to riding it without training wheels in no time. Here is the picture:

Her First Ride

So, today was another father and daughter day; I have been investing more time on Danica over the past week or so because her childcare provider is currently on vacation. Anyway, this is how our day progressed:

8:00am: While trying to get some beauty rest, I hear Danica running around the apartment, screaming at the top of her lungs.

8:17am: Once again, trying to get more beauty rest, I hear someone mention the following : “Papi is going to take you to the beach today”

9:35am: And, yes you guessed it, while I am still trying to sleep on the bed, I open up my eyes to find Danica chewing on a substance that looks pretty much like cookies – yes her grandmother feeds her whatever she wants (and I am serious when I say “whatever she wants”).

9:36am: I go back to sleep.

11:08am: I wake up for good this time and find Danica wearing a bathing suit; over the bathing suit I notice she is wearing her underwear – for the moment that did not seem to surprise me too much – until I glance at something lining the inside of her bathing suite: another set of underwear!

11:09am: I arise from the bed and begin asking Danica questions relevant to her new superhero outfit.

11:15am: By this point I have just found out that everyone in our apartment has told her I am supposed to take her to the beach today; Considering the fact that we just took her to the beach a few days ago, I quickly explained to her that I would gladly take her to the park instead because the beach was about 2 hours away from were we reside and it would be much more fun if we could go to the beach with mommy instead.

2:00pm: Before Danica takes her nap I tell her I will take her to the park when she wakes up.

4:12pm: Danica wakes up, we get prepared, and we head to the park.

4:55pm: We are at the park and Danica has another nervous breakdown when she notices an ant crawling up the blanket and heading towards her foot.

5:30pm: Danica is still afraid the ant has set out to kill her, even though I had flicked it away 34 minutes ago.

5:55pm: She has somewhat gotten over her fear of ants after we set our eyes on another one and I told her the ant was starving and we needed to feed it to go away. She played along and tried to feed it some of the cheese we brought with us to the park.

6:27pm: We began our stroll around the park and Danica wanted to climb every boulder in our path.

6:45pm: We wrapped it up by  granting Danica a few minutes in the playground’s swingset.

7:12pm: We met up with mommy in the apartment and I cooked dinner.

8:23pm: Danica asked me to color with her in her coloring book/

10:12pm: Danica falls asleep.

12:05am: Monica and I began watching “Push” on her computer.

12:28am: Monica fell asleep watching “Push”on her computer.

3:00am: I began editing the pictures you are probably looking at in this post.

4:49am: I am done editing this post and I am DEAD TIRED. Goodnight and hope you enjoy the pics.

We decided to spend the day at Central Park today and we brought a bunch of toys along with us. It turns out that kids are more amazed by popping bubbles than any other toy they could possibly own; either that or our kids are just plain weird.
